Update your iPhone | Apple is already looking at 6G

Update your iPhone : Apple releases a patch for a bug that corrupted memory

The memory corruption error could allow malicious code to run. The update is now available for ‘smartphones’, tablets and other devices of the apple firm.

Apple has distributed a security update for the different operating systems of its devices and for the Safari browser in order to fix a memory corruption error, and urges users to install it even if it does not have new features.

The technology company has released iOS 14.4.1, iPadOS 14.4.1, watchOS 7.3.2, macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 and Safari 14.0.3 to fix this security flaw identified as CVE-2021-1844. The bug was discovered by researchers from the Google Threat Analysis Group and Microsoft’s Browser Vulnerability Research.

The specific bug concerns a memory corruption bug that could allow arbitrary code to run through the processing of maliciously crafted web content, as listed on Apple’s Support page .

Security updates are available from this Monday. The company points out that keeping ‘software’ up to date is “one of the most important things” a user can do to keep their devices safe. And it is that the updates not only bring new functionalities, they also allow to repair bugs and vulnerabilities by which a cybercriminal could launch a computer attack.

Apple is already looking at 6G : the company is looking for workers to help it make the leap to the network of the future

5G is still far from democratizing, but technology companies are already awaiting the next great leap that the internet will experience in the coming years. That is the case with Apple . The apple firm, which launched its first devices compatible with fifth-generation networks only a few months ago, is already looking for professionals who are able to help them make the leap to 6G .

According to ‘ Bloomberg ‘, the company has published this week job announcements in search of wireless systems research engineers for current and next-generation networks . The listings are specifically for positions at Apple’s Silicon Valley and San Diego offices, where the company works on wireless technology development and chip design.

“You will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to create next-generation wireless technology that will have a profound impact on future Apple products,” the job posting noted. “In this role, you will be at the center of a cutting-edge research group responsible for creating disruptive next-generation radio access technologies for the next decade,” they also state.

Apple is not the first technology company to show interest in 6G. Last 2019, Samsung and LG, announced that they had begun studying the future network , which is expected to be 50 times faster than 5G. And it is that the Asian country is one of those that are betting with more force for the development of this technology.

At a meeting held on August 6, they agreed to preventively develop next-generation technologies. To work on the development of 6G, South Korea has scheduled an investment of 143 million euros (200,000 million won, the country’s official currency) starting in 2021. The goal is to launch a pilot of this network between 2028 and 2030 .

Be that as it may, from Apple they have a lot of work ahead of them. At the moment, 5G is only compatible with your iPhone 12 ‘smartphones’ . It has not yet reached its iPad or its smart watches, the Apple Watch.
