USING A COMPUTER
The best way to start putting Google on the information it collects about us is by going to the Activity Control section on the page of our Google account on our computer.
The data that Google has about you is divided into six different sections and you can deactivate what you want within this menu.
WHAT HAVE YOU SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET
Within this menu, the “Activity on the Web and Applications” section and the “Location history” section are the most important , since they have the most information. This allows the search engine to know what pages and apps you have been visiting and where and when you have been physically (you or, at least, your phone).
Within “Activity on the web and applications”, select the option “Manage Activity” to see the specific information that Google is collecting about you. There you will find the pages you have visited , the Google searches you have made and the applications that you have opened on your Android phone.
Then, click on filter by date and product at the top to see all the apps that Google tracking includes. This includes the Google Assistant and the Google Play Store. The same option also allows you to filter by dates.
Once you have applied a filter, you can delete all the information related to that filter by clicking on the trash can icon .
It is also possible to delete the entries individually by clicking on the three-dot icon that accompanies them and selecting the delete option.
If you want to delete everything you can also do it. To do this you only need to select “from the beginning of time” and “all products” in the filtering options. In this way, you will have deleted everything Google has about you in this category .
In the case of historical locations – Google collects data on where you have been, even, as some research shows, if you had the phone in airplane mode – you must also select the option “Manage Activity”.
Once inside, you can see all the data that Google has stored about you. Some data that will be displayed on a map where you can see red dots that indicate the points where you have been.
To delete this data from Google’s records, you must click on the trash can icon in the lower left corner . In this way, you can make a general erase or delete more specific content.
YOUR MOBILE AND YOUR TABLET
Another of the options offered by Google is to eliminate the information it has stored about the use of your mobile phones and your tablets .In these cases, it is only possible to delete the entire history of the web.
GOOGLE AND YOUR VOICE
Another section in which we can delete our records is the audio and voice activity . This includes Google Assitant commands, both through your mobile and smart speakers.
If you click on the “Manage Activity” option, you will find a list of everything you’ve said and even the option to play the audios.
To delete a specific recording, you can click on the three points and select the trash to make it disappear.
Also, this section also offers you the option to delete the entire stroke history .
THE VIDEOS YOU WATCH AND THE ONES YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
Another option offered by Google is to control our history of searches and reproductions of YouTube.
Two options, which we must also access by selecting the option “Manage Activity” in the menu of our account.
As in previous cases, we can delete videos and searches individually or through parameters that we include.
AVOID FOLLOWING YOUR SEARCHES
In addition to removing the results from your search history, you may want Google to give you a break when collecting information about your searches.
In these cases, the best thing you can do is navigate without logging into your Google account or use incognito mode in your browser.
On the other hand, if you want to avoid Google, you can also use other search engines and other browsers.
