As we all know, WFH- Work from Home is now in trend from Lockdown, so now many companies have shifted their work online permanently. So, A decent Network connection is an important part Nowadays. For Satisfactory Wi-fi Connections, it is important to have a good Router.
The router is the most important part of any network Connection. “The more Decorous the router, the more decorous the Internet Signal.”
Here are five tips are given below:
1. UPDATE YOUR ROUTER FIRMWARE
Software that is embedded inside your router. This software provides network protocols, security, and administrative controls. It is necessary to update your Router Firmware from time to time.
When users installed the router in their working area or wherever they need they access the firmware that is on a read-only memory chip inside the router to set up security and administrative options, according to routerlogin.one. It is the basic requirement to update the Router firmware from time to time.
Router manufactures are always trying to improve the software to make out a bit more speedy than usual. It is not so hard to upgrade your firmware, but it also depends entirely on your device’s manufacturer and model. It is very easy to update your Router firmware.
Simply, Type your router’s Ip address into the search bar of any web browser. Then, Enter your username and password. Then, Locate the Firmware or update section. This can usually be found in the advanced section. But it also depends on the router model. GO TO YOUR ROUTER MANUFACTURER’S WEBSITE. The next step is to Download the FIRMWARE UPDATE FILE. This file is mostly in the “.ZIP” File, and the next step is to extract this file and move it to your device.
AND THEN, THE LAST PROCESS STARTS to Select the router update file on the device and start the upgrade process. If you want to get the most of your router, the adventurous should look at the third-party firmware, like the open-source DD-WRT. DD-WRT stands for DresDen-Wireless RouTer.It is based on Linux Kernal. It also ramp-up Performance and give access to more advanced features and the ability to install a Virtual Private Network right onto your router.
2. UPGRADE YOUR OBSOLETE ROUTER
It is a good idea to get out the existing and obsolete router as if you are running older hardware. You can not expect the best performance. An upgraded Router will not only support those faster standards, but it will also do all the things in a better way. It will have better Channel Selection, Perform better band steering for 5-GHz devices, and include better QoS( Quality of Service) features.
Others may have features like Multi-User- Multiple Input Multiple Output(MU-MIMO). MU-MIMO routers send and receive many data streams even without bandwidth degradation and require specialized testing with multiple clients.
Some of the New ROUTERS are given below:
- Xiaomi Mi 4c Wireless Router (DVB4211IN):
It is having four antennas and is ideal for web surfing, Multi-Device connection, and gaming. It has ethernet connections.
- Asus GT-AX11000 11000 Mbps Gaming Router
This is a Gaming Router. Its Speed is 11000 Mbps Speed. Its frequency is 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz. External Antenna. Having 2-USB PORTS.
- Nighthawk RAX200 Tri-band AX12 WiFi 6 Router- AX1100
This Wifi Router uses the Latest Wifi 6(802.11ax) standard to provide four times increased data capacity to handle more devices to your network. It offers two separate streams of data transfers in the 5GHz band to ensure the best Wifi performance for all high-bandwidth applications such as massive file transfers, HD video streaming, etc.
- DWR-920V Wireless N300 4G LTE Router
- Quad Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
- WI-FI Data ranges up to 300 Mbps
- Two detachable 3G/4G antenna
- Gigabit LAN ports.
- Having WIRELESS TYPE: 802.11n,802.11b,802.11g,2.4 GHz Radio Frequency.
3. OPTIMAL PLACE FOR PLACEMENT OF ROUTER
If you are receiving signals only when you are standing beside your router place, or only at a certain place if you are getting signals as we all know that not many houses will distribute Wifi-Signals equally. The Fact is, the location of your router can affect your wireless coverage. The router needs to allocate in the center of your home. It needs an open place away from obstructions. Please keep it away from heavy-duty appliances and electronics as well. If your router has external antennas, orient them vertically to bump up coverage.
4. REPLACE YOUR ANTENNA
If your router uses an internal antenna, adding an external one would be a good idea, as it is possible to give a strong signal. There are different types of Antenna you can use, like omnidirectional and directional. An omnidirectional antenna which gives signals in all directions like the lantern gives the lights in all directions. A directional antenna gives signals in a specific direction like the flashlight gives focus only in one direction. Both are good at their places. But, A directional antenna tends to be a better option as it gives a signal from the targeted direction.
5. CHANGE THE CHANNEL OR BAND
Interference is a big issue if you live in a densely populated area. There are multiple wifi channels on which the wifi router can broadcast, like Channel 1,6 and 11. If the area is so densely populated, then signals from other wireless networks or other electronic devices may end up congesting the channel your router uses to connect to your device.
Set your router to Automatic Selection mode so that your router can select the least congested channel for you. If you don’t have an Auto channel selection option, you can manually select the channel that works for you.
